Unfinished Paper Piecing Project

I started this paper piecing project quite a while ago. Then I stopped because it was A LOT of paper piecing, and I got tired of it. Then, after I finished the heart bibs, I was looking at my list of other things I’d like to make. One is a spring table cover for the table by our front door. I was looking through fabric and patterns for inspiration and remembered this paper piecing project. So, I dug it out of the box of unfinished projects in the basement and took a look at it. I don’t really want to do more paper piecing, but I might put together what I’ve got with some background fabric and see what I’ve got…

Choosing Colors

I’m working on choosing colors for the flowers in my Log Cabin Basket block. Here are some of the possibilities I found among my scraps. I’m going to make the flowers orange and yellow to match the towels in our half bathroom – you can see one in the top right hand corner of the picture. I need some bigger pieces of green for the stems, so I think I’ll need to go into my stash for that. Decisions, decisions…

Paper Pieced Log Cabin Blocks

I’m about halfway done hand-sewing the binding to the back of my Card Trick Lap Quilt, working while watching the Olympics. After finishing piecing the Crackpotty Backing for the Round Robin Quilt, I’ve been making these three paper pieced log cabin blocks. They form a flower basket for a 14″ block I found in one of the quilting magazines Marty brought to All Together Week. The rest of the block is appliqué, and I hope to make it into a wall hanging for our downstairs half bathroom.
